Paul Gauguin

PAul Guaguin is another French artist that was part of the post impressionist movement.  His experimental use of colour involved him in the modernist movement. ‘Manao Tupapau’ was created by Gauguin in 1892 its an oil on canvas painting. The lack of tone and proportion makes this piece experimental. Gauguin’s use of colour makes it quite abstract, this classes the piece as modern. The use of abstraction means the onlookers need to carefully observe to understand the artists full intentions.
