Sony Building

The Sony Building was designed by architects Philip Johnson and John Burgee and was built in 1984. This is a great example of how people reacted against Modernism. The skyscraper design was quite modern however, it was contrasted with the classic ornamental shape design at the top of the building. This created controversy as it was opposite from most other building designs at the time and some saw it as a ‘step back’ for architecture.
